Genogram and transgenerational analysis

Your family tree becomes a genogram: a chart over 5 generations that brings out the links, the repetitions and the defining events of your family. We explore it together.

For you if you want to understand what repeats in your family, from one generation to the next.

from 290 €

Two options

Genogram: 290 €
For you if you already know your family well, or if you have done “Complete roots”.

  • Building your genogram over 5 generations: you, your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents.
  • The brothers and sisters of each person, when known: this is often where repetitions appear.
  • Spotting repetitions: first names passed down, ages and dates that recur, places among siblings, unions, losses, departures.
  • Two 90-minute analysis sessions by video call. I am also happy to share my observations in writing.

Genogram with research: 990 €
For you if you know little about your ancestors.

  • I first search for the missing records in the Portuguese registers, on both sides, back to your great-great-grandparents (30 ancestors), with the brothers and sisters the registers reveal.
  • Every record found is transcribed and translated.
  • Then the genogram is built over 5 generations, followed by the two 90-minute analysis sessions.

Why 5 generations? Over 3 generations, a repetition rarely has time to show. You have to go further back to see what is passed on.

What I need from you

  • The names, dates and family events you know, even if incomplete.
  • For the option with research: the starting information on your parents and grandparents, and your family documents (certificates, Portuguese ID card, letters, photos).
  • A first exchange to clarify what you would like to understand.

What you receive

  • Your genogram in PDF, with the standard symbols.
  • The observations from the two sessions.
  • With the research option: copies, transcriptions and translations of all the records found.

A concrete example

In your family, over five generations, a man leaves for abroad at around 20 in every generation, and the first name José is given twice again after the death of a child with the same name. The genogram shows these repetitions on a single page. During the two sessions, we look together at what they may say about your story and your own choices.

Typical case, to illustrate the process.

Turnaround and price

Genogram: at your own pace, usually over 3 to 4 weeks. 290 € for building it and the two sessions.
Genogram with research: 8 to 14 weeks depending on the state of the archives. 990 € for the research, the genogram and the two sessions. Fees for official records (certidões) are charged at cost, with no mark-up.
